Large-scale building complex projects are, in a sense, a type of community development. Although the client is the central player in turning dreams into reality, from planning the project to completion of the construction, once the project ends, the building complex serves the people who live or work there, as well as the wide variety of visitors to its facilities. For all stakeholders involved in the development, maintaining and improving the “community” thus formed is the most critical concern, and it is essential to have good area management in place. In designing landscapes, we constantly keep an eye on the operation and planning that take place after completion of the construction, and actively interact with the organization leading the area management. The success of even a single plaza hinges on, more than anything, how effectively the space is used.
