There is a continuous stream of large-scale development projects, especially in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Mixed-use building complexes come in a variety of forms, some having retail facilities on the lower floors with offices or hotels on top, while others consist of multiple residential buildings. These buildings all cover larger premises compared to single-use buildings, which means landscaping has a much greater role to play. If landscape design is not confined to the area within the premises but is allowed to expand its possibilities to the surrounding streets and neighboring parks through exploring legislative options and discussions with the government, an even richer local landscape can be created. We believe landscape design has the power to positively contribute to increasing regional value.
